Glenn Beck invoked a prophecy on his radio program today, November 13, 202. He did so in connection with the Progressive political agenda. Unfortunately, the prophecy he invoked is not about the point he sought o make with it. Nor was his explanation of that prophecy accurate. In short, Beck showed his lack of spiritual understanding — especially of the Prophetic Word. Ignoring the details of this fact, which is an entirely separate issue, I’d like to address the prophecy Beck invoked. We look now to Daniel 7:25.
OK, so, before we start with our study of the Book of Revelation, I thought we might take a moment to ask ourselves why we would want to study this Book. For me, this is not going to be about trying to figure out exactly how the prophecies will unfold in this material world. I am not going to do this: I am not going to join that long list of people who think this book of Scripture should be used as some sort of crystal or magic eight ball. I believe those who have done so in the past — no matter how well meaning they may have been — have inevitably done as much or more harm than good. Rather, I am going to lead this little study for a very different and — hopefully — a spiritually edifying reason, and I believe that reason can be found in Rev 1:3.
I have been wanting to write about my understanding of prophecy for years. But it is very difficult. Every time I go to write, I find myself held back. I no longer know if it is because of the Holy Spirit, or because I am convinced that I would be doing more harm than good. I just don’t know. I wish I did. Either way, for better or for worse, I am compelled to share this with you. Please read it and then decide what value it is to you and to your understanding of the events currently shaking our world. I’m not sure there is a ‘correct’ way to approach YHWH’s Prophetic Word, but I’m pretty sure there is a responsible way to do it. Too many people try to seize hold of prophecy; to make it something of their own design, under their control. I know of at least one such man, and what he has done with prophecy is nothing short of blasphemy. Others seek to use prophecy as some sort of crystal ball by which they can tell the future. There are even people who have built their own apostate religions around small sections of prophecy. All of these have at least two things in common. They seek to use YHWH’s Prophetic Word for their own prestige or material gain, and they all deceive or lead people away from YHWH. So, while I cannot say that I know the ‘correct’ way to approach prophecy, I am pretty sure I can tell when it is being done irresponsibly. Continue reading “The ‘Correct’ Way To Approach Prophecy”
